AluK design and produce aluminium door, window and curtain walling systems. This circa 350,000ft2 development consisted of office and industrial factory workspace, accommodating both employees and machinery.
The factory, naturally lit where possible through the existing roof lights, is over 30,700m² of modern open-plan production facilities, housing the paint plant, water treatment plant, aluminium anodising plant, thermal break line and state-of-the-art R&D facility.
The new office space utilises and reconfigures the existing three-storey office building with a 520m² three-storey extension housing the new double-height AluK Design Studio facility. The main office workspaces are on the upper floors in an open-plan arrangement. The reception, staff canteen and meeting rooms are located on the ground floor. The design creates a modern, open environment, providing high levels of natural light, ventilation and excellent external views.
The office element has received a new façade treatment, designed to give the appearance of a simple and elegant box connected to and contrasting with the busier nature of the existing factory.
With its rhythmic proportions, high-quality materials and crisp detailing, the new façade provides a unique showcase for AluK’s products and creates a contemporary and well-mannered aesthetic.
This project reached practical completion in July 2017.
