Rio carried out master planning design of the site layout in direct response to the nature of the site’s environment. It was our intention to create a memorable place; a development of distinctive character that responds to the local environment, which is specifically informed by the area known as Brynna Woods.

The proposed layout for the seven houses adopts the principle of a central ‘village green’. This concept creates a public space at the heart of the site, reinforcing legibility and the sense of distinction between public and private domains. Rio was appointed by Wynndel properties to complement the exterior design of the properties at The Woodlands with contemporary interior design, resulting in a whole house design strategy.

The internal aesthetic would continue the narrative established in the external envelope with modern clean lines, a sophisticated design strategy and thoughtful accents. The large open plan spaces required sensitive treatment to create discrete space distinctions and separation of functions within the houses.

Each of the houses has its own unique identity internally and externally which has heightened values and interest. This achieves a development which establishes a strong design approach that can evolve into an individual look and feel, enhancing the architecture of the development. Great care has been taken to ensure that natural light is a key element, bathing the interiors of Naturally Woodlands' houses, maximising external views and enhancing the sense of settlement in the landscape.
