Client Neath Port Talbot College Group
This project involves the refurbishment, reconfiguration and extension of an existing 1960s campus building creating an activity centre for college students and staff as a social space and an open learning environment to enhance collaboration and interaction.
The scheme includes a new student services HQ, housing advisory rooms, offices and open-plan work environment. Bookable meeting spaces are available to all and the open-plan space circulates around a central café.
A new glass box extension has transformed the building, increasing daylight and improving functionality, creating enough space to fully achieve the client’s aspirations. The design also included new external cladding and a vibrantly coloured entrance pod that signifies the college's main entrance and seamlessly connects the old and new.
“Rio took time to thoroughly understand the requirements of multiple stakeholders and translated this into a fully integrated design. Our students now benefit from an exciting multi-functional space with improved access, a new reception, finance office, coffee shop, interactive IT facilities and Student Services. We are delighted with our new facility which showcases NPTC Group’s commitment to investing in campus facilities to provide the best possible experience for its students.”
