This residential development in the heart of a conservation area in the affluent area of Pontcanna comprised of a mix of new build townhouses and apartments and the conversion of several buildings on site into apartments. As part of the overall redevelopment of the site, a nursing home, as a separate entity, was constructed adjacent to the townhouses.

This development combines private residential units and a nursing home facility on a large brownfield site within the desirable area of Pontcanna. The site is within a Conservation Area and as such brought many challenges to the design of the scheme, involving careful consideration of listed buildings and other buildings of architectural merit.

The residential element contains a mixture of apartments and townhouses whose design adopts a contextual but contemporary approach to the articulation of the elevations and the choice of materials that inform the language of the architecture. The masterplan consciously integrated existing historic buildings into the fabric of the development. The relationship between new and old has been addressed in a manner that allows the diverse architectural statement to express themselves in a contrasting but complementary manner.
